I started using Microsoft word around the third grade, and my teacher knew everything you needed to know about all the Microsoft programs. I have continuously used Microsoft word throughout the rest of my educational career, even now currently I use it for almost all my classes. I personally don’t prefer any other word processing software, I think that word is so easy and it is almost like second nature for me to just open and use for my assignments. Also, on top of the fact that I have been using it for so long, it is very compatible with other programs and it is so easy to save onto my device and transfer to other programs.

After reading the ISTE Standards: For Educators more in depth, it is definitely something that I would want to keep in the back of my mind while teaching. I currently work at a preschool full time in a VPK classroom and we are always preparing for gold seal evaluations or VPK program evaluations, by having a list of things we should focus on as educators, it makes me feel more at ease for evaluations. I really like that there are different sections with smaller subsections like professional goals, keeping up on research and advancing shared visions. My favorite section that gave me the most insight was probably 2.2 Leader, I really like the idea of advancing a shared vision by empowering learning with technology.
I agree with the label digital native for todays youth, I think that my generation has been using technology our whole lives and are always learning how to use the newest up-and-coming technology. Being a digital native means that we are “native speakers” of the internet basically meaning we can easily use and understand technology. I have most definitely seen the difference in the way that my generation (digital natives) and the way most our teachers (digital immigrants) use technology, I feel like we easily adapt to new technology and always know the shortcuts and tricks. While in contrast digital immigrants take much longer to adapt to the technological changes and may not always know the easiest way to do things online. I think that my future students will be even more technologically advanced than my generation, and I will be learning just as much from them as my teachers learn from us.
